For local businesses, the Enterprise Development Grant (EDG) supports up to 70% of project costs for a range of Core Capabilities including Strategic Brand and Marketing Development. DesignSingapore Council also offers support through two grants under the Design for Business framework.

DesignSingapore Council offers support through two grants that local businesses can leverage:

1. Design for business: User Journey Mapping.

This introductory scheme gives SMEs an overview to the practice of improving customer experiences by better understanding customer journeys and the interactions with their products, services and processes.

This scheme, by DesignSingapore Council and Enterprise Singapore, supports small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to develop sound business solutions, by identifying new growth and innovation areas through a user-centred design process.

EDG for Branding

Branding is an important investment for local companies so here are a few of the most frequently asked questions regarding the Enterprise Development Grant.

FAQ

To qualify for EDG support, you need to:
  • Be registered and operating in Singapore
  • Have a minimum of 30% local shareholding
  • Be in a financially viable position to start and complete the project
Applications will be assessed by Enterprise Singapore based on project scope, project outcomes and competency of service provider.
The grant funds qualifying project costs namely third party consultancy fees, software and equipment, and internal manpower cost. From 1 April 2023 SMEs can receive up to 50% for EDG (sustainability-related projects may receive up to 70%).

Aim of User Journey Mapping

The aim of User Journey Mapping is for SMEs to better understand their customers journeys and also identify growth and improvement opportunities by taking a customer-centric approach.

FAQ

Companies must be:
  • Be registered and operating in Singapore
  • Have a minimum of 30% local shareholding
  • Company’s group annual sales turnover not more than S$100M; or company’s group employment size not more than 200 workers
Depending on scope of project, design consultant will:
  • Conduct customer research e.g. through user interviews and observations
  • Provide overview of customers’ interactions with SME’s products and services
  • Provide overview of current service blueprint; identify areas for improvement to achieve desired customer experience

Aim of Frame & Scope

The aim of Frame & Scope is to enable SMEs to understand their users & market needs. This means framing and scoping opportunities for SMEs by better articulating their issues, then prioritising opportunities before potentially applying for further EDG grants to implement their strategies.
